A Couple Of Interviews And A Movie Review

It is has been forever since I had an update, my bad. I promise we will get this thing going back on a regular sked when I return from Las Vegas.

One of the big perks of my job is getting to do interviews. I love talking to interesting folk, and recently I got to chat with Crisitina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil and Ian Thornely from Big Wreck. Check out our chats:

I am a giant horror fan, and I was very excited to check out "The Woman In Black". Let me say it didn't disappoint, this is one of the better ghost stories told on film in recent memory. The movie captured me from the start, the atmosphere, setting, costumes set the tone perfectly. Daniel Radcliff gives a solid performance as does the rest of the cast. If you are looking for a lot of blood and gore this is not for you. The movie can best be described as an old fashioned ghost story told around the camp fire put to film. Check out the preview below, and if you like "The Woman In Black" check out "The Orphanage" another good ghost story.

Top Games Of 2011

Many are saying that 2011 may go down as the best year gaming will ever see. The year started strong and ended with so many great games it killed your pocketbook. I know it affected my Christmas shopping, I had to cut back on others so I could play as many of these games as possible.

First off the honourable mentions:

Sonic Generations - A great return for the blue hedgehog, so much fun!

Shadows of the Damned - A twisted game from Suda51. Full of low brow jokes, not the smoothest game of the year but I had fun playing it.

Alice: Madness Returns - I was such a fan of American McGee's Alice when I heard a sequel was on the way I got giddy. While it does get a tad repetitive, it is a fun dark platformer.

Star Wars: The Old Republic - I have only got to sample this and it looks like the MMO all Star Wars fans have been dying to play.

Mario Kart 7 - I didn't get to spend much time with this, but I had fun while I got to play it.

On to the Top 10:

#10 - Rage (PS3, 360, PC) A beautiful game, visually this ranks in the top 3 of the year. However the story and characters really felt forced and didn't add to the experience.

#9 - Portal 2 (PS3, 360, PC) A beautiful puzzle game, that at times will make your head hurt

#8 - Assassin's Creed: Revelations (PS3, 360, PC) A nice entry into the Assassin's Creed franchise however it felt like more of the same, the next game better up the ante or at least feel like it moved the story forward.

#7 - Mortal Kombat (PS3, 360) Finally Mortal Kombat returns! Such a great comeback for one of the all time great fighting game franchises. The game was slick and brutal, just what we wanted.

#6 - LA Noire (PS3, 360, PC) LA Noire offered up something a little different then most of the other games out there and it should be commended for that. It was also very repetitive and at times felt like it lacked an overall direction.

#5 - Deus Ex: Human Revolution (PS3, 360, PC) A very cool story with great graphics. Deus Ex was the perfect mix of shooter and RPG. The biggest issue with the game was the load times, they were a tad long.

#4 - Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PS3) Another great entry in the Uncharted series, it's beautiful and the gameplay is fantastic. However at times I felt like the game play was just filler between cut scenes.

#3 - The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii) The Zelda series just continues to put out great game after great game. As the Wii enters it's last year it may have released it's greatest game.

#2 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (PS3, 360, PC) An amazingly engrossing RPG from the brilliant minds at Bethesda. This is the role playing game we have been waiting for. The world is so large and diverse, it is possible you will still be playing this next holiday season.

#1 - Batman: Arkham City (PS3, 360, PC) Nothing beats standing on a building about to drop down on some thugs as the Dark Knight. The group behind the Arkham games has managed to not only capture the nuances of Batman, but all his villains as well. The game is beautiful, the story is top notch and the voice acting is amazing. I cannot wait to see what this team does next!

There you have it, my top ten of 2011. Next year is already starting to look good with a new Twisted Metal on the way as well as Mass Effect 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, Max Payne 3, and Halo 4 just to name a few. It is a great time to be a gamer!

When An Alligator And A Bunny Hug

September is here, football is gearing up and baseball is winding down. It also means the golf season is slowly closing up as well. Sure there is still time for some rounds, but if you had a goal for the year and you are no where near it, well, there is always next season. I really wanted to have a couple of rounds under 90 this season, and that is just not going to happen. So next year that will have to be the goal again.

Being an Oakland A's fan I am quite anxious to see the big screen adaptation of "Moneyball". If you haven't seen the preview check it out:

There is some serious Oscar talk around the movie, may be the biggest thing the A's can win till baseball gets a salary cap.

One of my favourite interviews of the year so far has been Gavin Rossdale of Bush. When you pick up the phone to start an interview you never know what is going to take place, Gavin was great. He provided amazing in depth answers. We only got to play around four minuets of the interview on the air, so here is an extended cut:

My DVD pick this week is the first of the big superhero movies of the summer to hit home video. "X-Men: First Class" is a fantastic film. Matthew Vaughn had already directed the great film adaptation of "Kick Ass", so the fact that the movie is superbly directed does not come as a surprise. While I think the movie does have it's flaws it is definitely worth checking out.

There are some beautiful women in the world of wrestling, and it has been my experience they are even more jaw dropping in person. The fine lady is no exception to that rule. She got her start during the 2006 WWE Diva search, she then went on to be part of the ECW brand as part of Extreme Expose. She has since found a home in TNA as Brook Tessmacher. I really thought these had already been posted, but turns out they weren't. It is kind of fitting as summer wraps up that we look back on the biggest show in Halifax this year, Rock The Hill. It was a great afternoon and here are the interviews from that days broadcast.

That was such a fun day!

So DC comics has said goodbye to the old universe and hello to a new one. If you have never read a comic book, or have been out of the loop for awhile this relaunching of the DC universe is intended to make this easier for you to get into. I was very sceptical of this move, but I must it has started off on the right foot. Justice League #1 hit stores on Wednesday and it is a great read. Geoff Johns has done an amazing job shaking up what we once knew. I found myself sucked into seeing characters I have read for so long meeting for the first time, their initial interactions, very cool stuff. So if you are a long time reader or new to the scene pick up Justice League #1 and get ready for a brand new DC universe, it should be a fun ride.

It is a slow week for new DVD releases so I have some recommendations from the older section of the store. Since there is a new chapter hitting stores in January, now is a fine time to go back and check out the "Underworld " series. These movies are very stylish and just fun to watch. If vampires and werewolves aren't your thing how about "The Last Kiss". This movie stars Zach Braff and is hard to put into one category. It is funny, sad, thought provoking. If your relationship is in any kind of trouble you should skip this one.

She can be seen every week on "How I Met Your Mother", she has also popped up on "Smallville" and "Tru Calling". Her film credits include "Walking Tall", "The Slammin' Salmon" and the upcoming Avengers movie. To make her that much more attractive she is Canadian, from Vancouver. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Some Late August Thoughts

Last week the West Memphis Three were finally released, this came a shock and was great news. However the state of Arkansas still managed to screw the boys over one last time. They accepted what is called an "Alfred Plea" it is a rare legal manoeuvre that allows a man to maintain his innocence while technically pleading guilty and acknowledging that prosecutors have enough evidence against them. So now the case just goes away, and the books still say they are guilty of the crime. The evidence says something totally different. Don't get me wrong this was there best chance at freedom and I would have taken it to. There is still a chance the Governor will pardon they boys, and hopefully that will happen. A tip of the hat should also go to the celebrities that have brought this case to the forefront, people like Herny Rollins, Johnny Depp, Natalie Maines and Pearl Jam just to name a few. Without their ability to put a spotlight on the case the boys may still be locked up.

If you are in the mood for a great documentary check out "Superheroes". It aired on HBO and follows some real life crime fighters trying to make a difference in this crazy world. Here is the trailer:

Watching this documentary actually filled me with hope for mankind.

I have been lucky enough to interview some amazing people. One of my favourite guys to talk to was Sebastian Bach. He has such a great energy about him, and is genuinely a nice guy. He has a new album coming out on September 27th, and the delux edition includes a DVD with some footage shot here in Halifax. Here is the video for the title track "Kicking And Screaming":

I have a couple of DVD picks for this weekend. First up "Your Highness", somehow this did not fare to well at the box office but it is now on DVD and you can watch it in the comfort of your own home. Sure it is crude, silly, and pointless, but it is damn funny. I thought I would go a little older for my next picks. "Rounders" is an underrated movie about the seedy underbelly of poker, it has strong performances all around and is defiantly worth checking out. Finally with the remake of "Fright Night" now in theatres I thought I would go back and check out the original. While there are some parts that make the movie feel a little dated overall it holds up pretty well. Happy viewing.

Oh Hollywood You So Crazy

Sometimes the absurdity of movies that get made really hurts my head. The latest example of this is next summer's "blockbuster" "Battleship". Based on the board game they have somehow turned it into an alien invasion. I have been racking my brain, but I fail to remember aliens in Battleship. I remember sticking pegs in tiny plastic ships. Liam Neeson must have some major bills to pay, because he is starring in this turd that reportedly cost around $200 million dollars. I am currently writing a script based on the board game Sorry, if I can figure out how to inject aliens I have a winner.

If you have a 360 or PS3 let me recommend "Shadows Of The Damned". This very stylized shooter is just a blast to play. You take on the role of Garcia a demon hunter trying to rescue his girlfriend with the help of Johnson, a former demon who escaped and can turn into a variety of weapons. The game rarely slows down the action, the creature designs are cool and unique, and there a dick jokes a plenty. This game was designed to just be fun, and it succeeds. Check out the trailer:

My DVD pick this week is "The Lincoln Lawyer", this movie really surprised me. Perhaps it is the stigma of Matthew McConaughey, but I had very low expectations for the film. It is a brilliant crime drama with some great twists and turns thought. Not to mention some great supporting performances from Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy, it could have been nice if the story afforded each of them more screen time. This leads me to two other suggestions for the weekend. Perhaps it is my love of sports betting but I really enjoyed "Two For The Money" starring McConaughey and Al Pacino. I think this movie got a bad rap because it does glamorize gambling, but it is worth checking out. My other suggestion is a movie that has been universally panned over the years, but I find incredibly entertaining. "Mystery Men" is a spoof on superhero tales and it is done exceptionally well with an amazing cast. Ben Stiller, William H. Macy, Jeanne Garofalo, Geffory Rush, and Paul Rubens, how can you go wrong? I think if you approach this movie with an open mind you will dig it.

She started her career in the adult film business and now she is transitioning to the mainstream. You can see her in the horror flick "Chromeskull: Laid To Rest 2" and in the comedy "Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star" with Nick Swardson. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Rock The Hill Review And More

Last night "Rock The Hill" took over the Garrison Grounds at Citadel Hill. While the line up was tight from top to bottom I was particularly excited to see Seether. The band switching to being a three piece created a lot of questions, how different would their sound be? Would they be able to pull off the full sound they have on their albums? I must say they were fantastic.Reworking a few song to best fit the new arrangement, and just to breath life new life into big hits, for me they were the highlight of the show. I know have the same feeling for Seether I did after I saw The Offspring on the hill. I want to see them in an arena, on their own headlining tour. Hopefully that happens.

Before the show many had questioned the inclusion of Matt Mays on the bill. If you had never seen Matt live I could understand those questions. Yesterday he made damn sure he put those questions to rest. An amazing set by our local boy too the energy on the Hill to another level. He told me during our interview a new album is right around the corner and I for one cannot wait.

Metallica had a great set list last night covering the bands career as best they could, and mercifully skipping St. Anger. Despite the strong song choices I found their performance to be a mixed bag of energy. At times it seemed they were way into the show, at other points not so much. While the performance last night was good, for me it did not top the show they put on here on the black album tour. Maybe it is just my love of Newsted that puts the other concert over the top, or it being the first time I saw Metallica live. Whatever the reason last night came a bit short of that 1993 show.

John Carpenter is one of my favourite directors, the man is responsible for so many classic films. Right near the top of the list would be 1982's "The Thing". Well there is a prequel on the way, when I first heard this news I cringed. Now after seeing the trailer I am very excited, and not just because of Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Check it out:

Keeping with the John Carpenter theme my DVD picks this week have all been directed by him. First up "They Live", a cool sci-fi tale with deep meaning. "They Live" is low budget and starts Roddy Piper, two things that would make most people shy away from the film. This is a movie that should be seen as it has a great social commentary that is a fitting now as when it was released. When Kurt Russell and John Carpenter team up it is like magic, they were like the 80's version of Depp and Burton. "Big Trouble In Little China" is one of the best tongue in cheek action comedies of all time. Since it's release in 1986 fans of the film have been clamouring for a sequel. Some of the effects are a bit dated now, but the movie is still one hell of a good time. When you talk cult classics "Escape From New York" is at the top of the list. Snake Plissken is one bad ass character, hell Solid Snake from the Metal Gear games was influenced by Kurt Russell's character. Finally this one is a bit harder to find but "John Carpenter's Vampires" is worth the hunt. Almost like an old western told with a Vampire Hunter and a pack a rabid Vampires. Trust me these are not like the glittery kids from "Twilight".

She burst onto the scene in 1996's "2 Days In The Valley" and went on to roles in such films as "Aeon Flux", "The Italian Job" and the very underrated "The Devil's Advocate". In 2003 she won the best actress Oscar for her work in "Monster". She will soon be seen in the upcoming Mad Max films, as well as Ridley Scott's "Prometheus". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Canada Day Weekend Is Here

It is one of the biggest and best party weekends of the year. Unfortunately the weather here is still super crappy. Normally this weekend is custom made for the beach, the cottage, or the patio. This year it may be best suited for a parka. There are a slew of great events taking place around town, including a free concert with The Trews at Alderney Landing. Whatever you do this weekend take a moment and give thanks that we are fortunate to live in such a great country!

I was recently in Toronto to catch this summer's Motley Crue tour. I will go on record as saying these guys put on the best live show out there. Each concert I have seen from Motley has been completely different. As the boys celebrated their thirtieth anniversary they cranked it up a notch. I am going through the picks I took and will post them soon, but one of the highlights is Tommy Lee and his 360 Drum Solo. Check out the video:

My DVD pick this week is a film you will either love or hate. I was a big fan and cannot wait to watch the eighteen extra minutes of additional footage in the director's cut. "Sucker Punch" is a wildly ambitious project from "Watchmen" and "300" director Zack Snyder. The story is told through a mix of reality and fantasy with a lot of metaphor thrown in to the fantasy sequences. The visuals and soundtrack are stunning, and in away this may have hurt the film overall. This is a movie that is very layered, and to fully understand it the layers have to be peeled, and it is easy to just get lost in the beauty of the visuals Zack Ryder has created. It doesn't succeed at all it sets out to accomplish but it hits more then it misses.

It is only fitting on Canada Day weekend I feature a lovely Canadian beauty. She was a fitness model before she broke into the WWE and went on to become one of the best female wrestlers of the modern era. She has since ventured out into the world of acting, TV hosting, trainer on Tough Enough and yoga studio owner. She was also one of the first interviews I ever had the pleasure of conducting. My Summer Of Journeys Continues

I am not sure how this happened but I ended up with three little trips this summer. Florida being the first, and now this weekend I am off to Toronto to see Motley Crue. It is no secret that the Crue are my favourite band, I grew up on these guys and they have had a major impact in my life. If there is a down side to seeing Motley live, they tend to ruin you for other concerts. The boys put on such an amazing show that every other concert seems a bit smaller in comparison, I mean Tommy Lee is playing drums on some sort of roller-coaster, how sweet is that?

I have two DVD picks this week, and they come on the heel's of the news that we may not see a third in this series. "Hellboy" and "Hellboy II" are a couple of the best comic book movies made so far, and director Guillermo del Toro has crafted such a great world that it would be sad if we didn't get a third movie. However after the success he had with these film, and others like "Pan's Labrynth" his plate is pretty full. I am crossing my fingers he finds a way to make "Hellboy III" happen.

Florida June 2011

This trip to Florida was a nonstop geekfest, I was in full blown nerd heaven the whole time. First off I hit up Star Wars weekends at Disney World. If you are a Star Wars fan, you have to try to make it to one of these. The brand new Star Tours ride had just opened, and was one of the main attractions. I manged to ride it three times, it is a tonne of fun. I also had my scariest moment ever on a ride during this trip. I was on the Matterhorn at Epcot, during that ride it backs out of a cave at the top of a waterfall. For some reason our boat stopped at the top, as another boat came towards us I thought for sure it was going to bump us down the waterfall to our doom. Luckily it didn't. I was also in Orlando to check out TNA's Slammiversary PPV, part of the VIP package was a meet and greet with the one and only Hulk Hogan. I will get to that in a minute. The pay per view was amazing. If you a wrestling fan and you have not seen the Bully Ray vs AJ Styles match, go find it somewhere. A simply phenomenal last man standing match. It is not always that some gets to meet one of their heroes. I can still remember my Dad calling me in to the living room to check out WWF Superstars for the first time, and telling me to cheer for Hulk Hogan because he was a good guy. Since that day I have been a Hulkamaniac. I have followed the Hulkster for years, and in many ways he has been an influence on my life. So it was a true honor to get a chance to meet the man himself.

The Finals Are Here

Both the NBA and NHL finals are upon us. It's a sports fan's dream to have a finals game on each night, there are so many chicken wings being devoured right now it is mind blowing. The NHL final pits the Boston Bruins against the Vancouver Canucks, as I write this the Canucks have a one game lead. However, I think this is going to be a long, tight series. A lot of 2-1 or 3-2 games. I do think the Canucks have a slight edge and should win in seven. In the NBA the dream team of the Miami Heat are taking on the Dallas Mavericks, currently the series is tied at a game a piece. I would love to see the Mavs win this series, however I am not sure they have enough weapon to take the title. I will say Heat in six games.

There are so many great bands in Canada that tend to fly under the radar. The Vincent Black Shadow is one of those bands. They have a unique sound that almost feels like it takes you back in time. Check out a couple of their tracks:

I love that version of White Rabbit. The band has since parted ways with vocalist Cassandra Ford and I haven't heard anything with the new singer, but if it is close to this it will be great.

My DVD pick this week is a movie that absolutely tanked at the box office. Maybe it was bad marketing, people have a hate on for Nic Cage, or the reviewers didn't get what the film was going for. "Drive Angry" is a grindhouse film, nothing more. It is supposed to be silly, over the top, and make little sense. Grindhouse movies are just supposed to be fun, and "Drive Angry" is certainly that. NIc Cage is great, as is Amber Heard, not to mention how stunning she is in the movie. Check it out this weekend. If like grindhouse movies and you have Netflix you may want to check out the documentary "American Grindhouse". It is a great look at the history of low budget films.

I have become a big fan of the TV show "Game Of Thrones", it is an incredibly well done fantasy show that still feels grounded. Not only is the show exceptionally well written and acted it is littered with beautiful women. Prior to her role of Dohrea on "Game Of Thrones" this beauty was well know by UK TV audiences for her role in "Hollyoaks". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Getting Ready For Florida Trip Number Two

Sometimes it is crazy how things come together. I was checking out TNA's website one day and looking at what the VIP package was for Slammiversary, and it featured a meet and greet with Hulk Hogan. I was wishing there was some way I could make the trek down to Orlando to meet one of my heroes. Then outta know where comes some extra side work, and there it is. I am off to meet The Immortal Hulk Hogan. To say I am beyond excited would be an understatement. To make the trip even better they are having Star Wars weekends at Disney to celebrate the Star Tours ride re-opening. It is gonna be one geek filled weekend!

Not too much news on the TV show front to pass along. Things are moving along and we should be shooting the pilot episode soon. I will let you know when we wrap on the bad boy.

Thought I would go a bit older with my DVD picks for this week. If you are in the mood for a horror movie let me recommend "Cube". This film is executed so well at times you feel trapped with the characters on the screen. If you are more in the mood for fantasy "Pan's Labyrinth" is the way to go. A brilliantly crafted tale by Guillermo del Toro, if you ask me this was on of the best film of the decade. On the comedy front let me suggest the overlooked "Eurotrip". While it does follow a tried and true formula of road trip and teen sex comedy movies, it was quiet enjoyable with many genuine laughs thought.

We have featured Velvet Sky, Mickie James, and So Cal Val, time for us to have a look at another TNA Knockout. She worked her way up through the indies and then signed with WWE, she was then released and eventually found her way to TNA where she started the team of The Beautiful People with Velvet Sky. I Don't Have To Worry About The Rapture

So if you buy into the prophecy being foretold on billboards the end begins tomorrow. If you haven't heard, The Rapture is supposed to take place tomorrow, where all the good Christians are ushered up to Heaven and the rest of us are left to toil as the world crumbles. Being as I am far from a holy person I will be left behind and be forced to scratch and claw until the final day on October 21st. Of course I don't buy into any of this. Thought the years different people of different religious beliefs have foretold the end of the world. So far they have all been wrong. It's kinda like picking the Leafs to win the Cup the odds of it happening are astronomical, but if you are right you look like a genius. If you really want to be entertained by end of days antics, check out two episodes of Penn & Teller: Bullshit. In season one they had an end of the world episode, and then in season seven they tackled the 2012 apocalypse. Enjoy these as well all go to hell.

With the new Pirates of the Caribbean film opening this week I thought my DVD pick should be the previous three. I do not understand the dislike for the second and third movies in this series. I will agree that the did add too many characters to the story, but they movies were still fun. That is all this series has ever been supposed to be. So sit back catch up on the adventures of Jack Sparrow before you go sail On Stranger Tides.

Crazy Week

This has been an insane week. Wednesday night Corey Taylor was my co-host for LOUDER and that blew up more then I was expecting it to. The news hit some of the biggest hard rock and metal websites in the world, needless to say it was an amazing feeling. I can't thank Corey enough for being a great co-host, and I can't wait till we get to do it again. I also want to thank all of you who have been tuning into LOUDER, the show is growing at a great pace, and I owe that to you guys. I have gotten some cool emails over the last couple of days, and you may see some more cool names popping up on LOUDER and my afternoon show. I am crossing my fingers.

If you follow my twitter I have had some messages about other projects I have been working on. Believe me I want to spill the beans, but not quiet there yet. Soon, I promise soon. Hopefully as soon as next week, if all the meetings go as scheduled.

The big story all week has been Metallica, are they coming to Halifax or aren't they? Well we should have the official announcement on Monday, however from what I am being told plan to be on Citadel Hill on July 14th. I am also hearing some sweet names as far as openers. If it all goes as I have heard Monday's announcement will be amazing.

Sixx A.M's new album "This Is Gonna Hurt" hit stores on Tuesday and has not left my CD player since. This is easily one of the front runners for rock album of the year. I would highly recommend you pick up both the CD and the companion book of the same name. Nikki Sixx has become a great writer, and as the book "This Is Gonna Hurt" shows he is one hell of a photographer as well. Putting the book and CD together is an assault on the senses. My DVD pick this week is an overlooked jewel in Tim Burton's career. "Big Fish" is the tale of a boy trying to reconnect with his father, and decipher the fact from fiction in his father's tall tales. The movie is immensely entertaining with odd characters and lavish visuals. I would say after you watch this movie you call your dad.

She has one of the best screams in rock today, and she is a beauty to boot. She is constantly recognized as one of the most beautiful front women in metal today. This weeks Scotty's Hotty is:

First Round Of The Playoffs Are Done

We have gotten through the first round of the NHL playoffs and now we know a bit more about each team. Here is what I learned from the first round:

Washington Capitals - This could be their year, they are more committed to defense then ever before. They kinda need to be because they still have questions in goal. Right now they would have to be among the favorites to make the finals.

Tampa Bay Lightning - The are still as streaky as they were in the regular season, that is not a good thing. They have the weapons to go further but they have to play more consistently.

Boston Bruins - The have a gritty team that can score but can be beaten by speed. After a war in the first round do they have enough left in the tank to go further, if they can't dig deep they will be ousted.

Philadelphia Flyers - They slugged out first round victory with not much help from their net minder. If there goal tending doesn't shape up they will be finished quickly.

San Jose Sharks - This team showed more determination and heart in the first round then it had in previous playoff runs. The Sharks had a reputation of folding under pressure, they took the first steps to shake that rep.

Detroit Red Wings - Somehow this team stays right near the top and are legit contenders year in and year out. This series with the Sharks will be a fun one to watch.

Vancouver Canucks - This team is full of talent, and shaky. Not sure if its the expectations or cockiness that lead to the Blackhawks comeback in round one. Whatever it is they need to fix it fast or they won't see the finals.

Nashville Predators - A big congrats to the franchise for its first ever playoff series win. The team now has to overcome the mental thought that that is enough, and it won't be easy against Vancouver. I am not sure the Preds have enough dynamic players to hand with Vancouver.

Anyway you look at it the first round has had some amazing hockey. This is the benefit of a salary cap, every team becomes competitive. Baseball are you taking note? Of course not.

My DVD pick for the week was written as a comedy, it may now be a cautionary tale. "Idiocracy" written by Mike Judge, the genius behind "Office Space", "Beavis And Butthead" and "King Of The Hill", presents us with a glimpse of a future that is not too bright, in more ways then one. It is a shame this movie has been so over looked. Hunt this movie down laugh at the jokes, and then shudder in fear at how real this movie is becoming.

Scream 4 is a pretty bad movie, but that is not to say there are not some beautiful ladies in it. This beauty has appeared in film "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief" and the TV show "10 Things I Hate About You". I have a feeling she is set for big things. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

A Bit Of A Sad Week

There were a couple of stories this week that made me a little sad. Te first involves the Sacramento Kings. It is possible that the team has played their last game in Sac-Town. Word on the street is that the team will be packing up and moving to Anaheim next year. The only NBA game I have ever attended was at Arco Arena where the Phoenix Suns dismantled the Kings. It was amazing to watch Steve Nash just take over the game in the second half. However it is not a lack of fan support that is forcing the Kings out of Sacramento, it is the need for a new arena. Over the years so many proposals have been put forth to construct a state of the art building on some unused train yard land in the downtown of the city. Yet city council has rejected all most every plan put forth. Kinda reminds me of our situation trying to get a new arena and all that land in Shannon Park.

The other story the made me frown was Edge's retirement from the WWE. Edge was a one of a kind in ring performer, with mic skills to back it up. He had the look, he had the moves, and he knew how to work a crowd. All the ingredients needed to make one hell of a wrestler, an defiantly a future hall of famer. Despite all the titles he won over his career, it never really felt like the WWE put the machine behind him, and I think they missed the boat on that one. I had the opportunity to meet Edge a few years back, he was an incredibly nice guy. So I say thanks Edge for all the memories, you put your body on the line for our entertainment, and entertain you did. You will be missed.

My DVD pick this week is an odd film starring Val Kilmer. "The Salton Sea" is a twisted film noir that is incredibly enjoyable. Val Kilmer does a great job taking his character on a continuous downward spiral. There are some great cameos in the movie as well including Meatloaf and Josh Todd from Buckcherry. It maybe a bit harder to find, but worth trying to find.

"Your Highness" is one of the funniest movies of the year, if you haven't seen it yet go now. Not only will you laugh your ass off you will be treated to some strikingly beautiful ladies. Including this fine lady who was one of the forest girls. She has also been featured as a Page 3 girl in the UK and is now this week is Scotty's Hotty:

Thoughts on Wrestlemaina

Last night was Wrestlemania XXVII, and I must say I was disappointed. All the great hype, the returning stars, the grandeur of Wrestlemania, all those ingredients made it seem like this one would be a winner. In the end it felt like a long episode of RAW. I will break the show down match by match:

1 Edge (with Christian) defeated Alberto Del Rio (with Ricardo Rodriguez and Brodus Clay) Singles match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Why in the hell do you open a show with a world heavyweight title match. This is over thinking at its finest. The match its self was ok, and showed again why Edge is one of the best workers the company has right now. It was a shame they threw this out there first.

2 Cody Rhodes defeated Rey Mysterio Singles match

To be honest I didn't expect much from this match, but it was a solid mid-card match for a Wrestlemania. It probably didn't end the feud with Cody winning, that is an odd decision for a 'Mania match. This should have opened the show.

3 Kane, Big Show, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston defeated The Corre (Wade Barrett, Ezekiel Jackson, Justin Gabriel, and Heath Slater)

I call this the get as many guys the 'Main payday as possible match. Kane and The Big Show are attractions, to throw them in this mess is a waste of their drawing ability. It was also a waste of Kofi Kingston, a young guy that they should be building. This was just a solid waste of 5 minuets.

4 Randy Orton defeated CM Punk Singles match

This was perhaps the most disappointing match of the night. I am big fan of CM Punk and Randy has put on some good matches in the past, but again this had no special feel to it. Also this hitting the RKO out of nowhere is ridiculous, not to mention DDP did a better job selling it when he was working the angle with the Diamond Cutter.

5 Michael Cole (with Jack Swagger) defeated Jerry Lawler by disqualification Singles match with special guest referee Steve Austin

I feel like I should send flowers to Jerry Lawler. His first Wrestlemania match and it is with Michael Cole. Cole shouldn't even be behind the mic to begin with, he doesn't get the basic function of his job is to put the talent over. Then they take it to the next level as they try to make him a personality. On the plus side Austin's involvement in the match did make it one of the more entertaining of the night, and the Stunner on Booker T was amazing!

6 The Undertaker defeated Triple H No Holds Barred match

Match of the night, a nice old school tale told by two of the all time greats. Now this did not reach the level of the two Taker/HBK matches but it was the highlight of the night for sure. I will say this, the streak needs to end! It has become so big that it becomes the focus of Wrestlemania. The event feels over after the Undertaker match. End the streak, or let him retire at 20-0, but overall I think the attention paid to this is killing title matches and other solid match ups.

7 Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, Trish Stratus and John Morrison defeated Dolph Ziggler and LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) (with Vickie Guerrero)

Poor Trish, always the cooler match. Problem is the crowd was cool all night. Once again the WWE craves some mainstream press by bringing in "Snooki". Thankfully this was a quick waste of time and not much happened. I will give Snooki props for her tumbling but bump. Speaking of butt's Trish's looked amazing as always.

8 The Miz (c) (with Alex Riley) defeated John Cena Singles match for the WWE Championship

As the WWE continues to convince us The Miz s a credible champion the continue to show us he isn't. At this stage of his career he is US or Intercontinental material, unfortunately those belts don't mean anything anymore. This was a bad match with neither guy looking like they gave a damn. Perhaps they thought the could just go through the motions because The Rock would show up and the crowd would explode. Well The Rock did show up and made this an even bigger mess. He gives Cena the Rock Bottom and The Miz keeps the belt. This makes sense how?

I know some of these things may seem more logical down the road. If we get a Cena/Rock match up ok, but there is no guarantee of that right now. Even if we do get it, it will be a long time coming, making the actions last night almost pointless. All in all the WWE needs to find their way, and the edict sent down that they don't want the word "Wrestling" used in the company name anymore is not a step in the right direction. I get it Vince, you want to branch out and do different projects under the companies umbrella. Fine, but don't forget what got you to the dance.

I Thought Spring Was Here

The golfer in me is pissed that we could see some snow today. I am itching to get my clubs out and smack some balls around. I have been watching the tip shows on The Golf Channel like crazy, I bought golf magazines with tips, and now snow. This is bullshit!

My DVD pick this week is not only one hell of a movie it has an amazing soundtrack. "High Fidelity" is a grossly underrated film from John Cusack. Sure it falls into the romantic comedy category and may scare some off, don't be afraid. This is a must see film. If we are totally honest this is probably the best Jack Black performance ever. Last night I was flipping the channels not really paying attention to what was on the tube. Sometimes that can have some great effects. Allergies? Really?

Last year was my first encounter with seasonal allergies, and I must say I am not a fan. I am all congested and have sniffles. Sounds sexy doesn't it? I kinda feel like I hit the green beer hard last night, even though I didn't touch a drop. I can only imagine that shape I would be in right now if I did get after it. Hopefully you are all feeling ok and that you had a fun St. Patty's Day.

I love scouring the internet for new bands, sometimes you find junk, but other times a gem will appear. Such is the case with this band. I am in love with their sound, it may remind you of not to mention the beauty of the lead singer. From Toronto check out The Birthday Massacre:

My DVD pick for this week also happens to be what I think was the best film of 2010. "The Fighter" is just a phenomenal movie. The performances are top notch, and I have never left a movie feeling filled with so much hope. This is a must see!

Where To Start With Comics?

This is a question I get asked a fair bit. If you are not into comics, or want to get started with them again, where do you start? If you go into the comic shop and just grab some issues off the shelf odds are you will fall into the middle of a story arc and be lost. So here are a list of some graphic novels and collections that may ease you into the world of comics:

Preacher - Perhaps the greatest comic series ever! A must read, this is one that will suck you and keep you turning the pages!

Green Lantern: Rebirth and Secret Origins - So much has happened in the Green Lantern universe over the last few years either of these would be great places to start.

Neil Gaiman's Sandman - This is a Gothic fantasy unlike any other, it is one of the most interesting series' I have ever read.
Batman: Return Of Bruce Wayne - A very cool tale of Batman traveling through time to return to modern day Gotham.

Captain America: Reborn - The return of the one and only Captain America!

Siege - This tale sets up the current events of the "Heroic Age" of the Marvel Universe.

These are just a few suggestions, there are so many great books out there. I would say take some time to browse around a comic book shop and find something that grabs your attention.

This weeks DVD pick is a documentary that is sure to get your blood boiling. The 2010 Oscar winner for Best Documentary "Inside Job" shows you just how corrupt the economic system can be, and at times leaves you feeling a bit helpless. At the same time I think it is a must see to help open your eyes.

This weeks beauty was born in Montreal and grew up in New Brunswick. She is easily one of the most beautiful women in the world of wrestling today. Any yet somehow she seems to have been put to the back burner, way to go WWE. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Louder Debuted

Well this week Louder debuted on Live 105. This has been a project that has been in the works for awhile and sometimes it takes longer then you think to get something finished; or in this case started. It will be a work in progress, tweaking things here and there, but I was very happy with how the first episode turned out. We are all ready working on the next couple of editions. So make sure you tune in Wednesday night at 11 for Louder, we have some cool guests coming up and great tunes you won't want to miss.

It has been quite a week in the Live Hive, yesterday we had Bedouin Soundclash and KO in to perform. Both gave us amazing live acoustic jams and were fantastic interacting with the members of the Live Army that were in to see them. I figured I would go a bit old school with this weeks DVD pick. It had been a long time since I had watched "Dodgeball". I dusted it off the shelf the other night and I was pleased to see it has held up nicely over the years, if you haven't seen it in awhile it may be worth another look this weekend.

I went to see "Hall Pass" this week, and I was pleasantly surprised at just how funny it was. I thought it would be good for a couple of chuckles, but there were some truly hilarious moments in the film. Not to mention it has an absolutely stunning lady in it, who I am now a big fan of. Some Ramdom Thoughts

I must say I have been pleasantly surprised with the lack of intrusion the Canada Games has placed on the city. When I first heard we had been chosen as the hosts, I instantly thought that getting around town would become and arduous process that added time and fuel consumption to any trip. So kudos to the city and the event organizers for keeping things flowing at a relatively normal pace.

Now I am very excited about the new movie "Drive Angry". It seems however, I am in the minority, most on the Internet are condemning the film for having a bad title, starring Nic Cage, and looking cheesy. That is the point of the movie, it is not a film that you take a life lesson from. It is supposed to be cheesy, hence the title is perfect. I us this a microcosm of what is wrong with the world in general. Everything is taken so damn seriously. Just sit back grab some popcorn and be entertained, I guarantee you will feel better.

There are some cool things I am working on that I wish I could share with you. One of the big projects will be revealed very soon. I think you will dig it. I have some emails out to people trying to line up interview guests as well. If you have someone you think would be a cool interview let me know and I will try to get them on the show.

It is funny how you find bands sometimes. I ordered these guys CD because I thought the lead singer was in another band I liked. Turned out they just had the same name. However my screw up was a blessing in disguise. Sprung Monkey are a great band that cover a wide range of musical styles. They reunited in 2005, but have yet to release anything new. That being said their 2001 album "Get A Taste" is freaking awesome. Here are a couple of tracks:

I have two DVD picks this week one will make you think, the other may make you puke. First is the film version of the highly successful book "Freakonomics". This movie takes a look at some interesting topics and sheds new light on them. You may agree with some of the arguments, others make make you furious, either way they will make you think. My other choice for this week is at the other end of the spectrum. "Hatchet II" will not make you think at all, but it is a fun horror movie. A throwback to the horror films of the 1980's "Hatchet II" has a giant unstoppable killer, and plenty of blood. If you have a light tummy you may want to pass.

She has been seen on the TV shows "CSI", "Smallville", "Friday Night Lights" and "Supernatural". Her film credits include "Legion", "Pop Star", and the upcoming "Red Dawn" remake. She has lent her voice to "Family Guy" and "Robot Chicken". Her next project will see her becoming one the most popular superheroes of all time as she has been cast as Wonder Woman in the new TV show. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Florida 2011

I am a bit behind it getting this post up, I just had so many pics to go through. My trip started with a visit to Disney. Out of the four parks there Animal Kingdom has easily become my favorite, it has an amazing roller coaster, Expedition Everest, and a very cool safari ride as well. After my time with the animals, I headed over to the Magic Kingdom, where it really is a case of oldies but goodies. I never get tired of Pirates Of The Caribbean, Space Mountain, and my personal favorite The Haunted Mansion. With Star Tours down for upgrades I skipped Hollywood Studios and headed to Epcot. The next day it was off to Tampa to check out the Lightning take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Before the game I spent so time cruising around the city checking out some of the sites, a bit of shopping and looking into condos. I am very tempted to buy a place, I love the city that much. While in town I had lunch at the Penthouse Club, and then before the hockey game had dinner at Hooter's. It was a good day. Here are a couple of shots from the game.

Next day was the TNA PPV Against All Odds at Universal. I purchased the VIP PPV experience and let me tell you it was worth every penny of the price. TNA really treats their fans well. I had a blast! Here I am in full mark mode with some TNA stars:

A Week Away From Vacation

Next week at this time I will be in Tampa having a little get away, I take a trip down there once a year. People ask me why I go to the same place all the time. Truth is I love the city of Tampa. It is so beautiful there, and I spend some time up in Orlando as well doing the theme park thing. It is really just nice time to decompress. Something I think we all need. If you are looking for an old school action movie this weekend check out "Robocop". Sure parts of it are a bit dated, but it is one bad ass bloody action movie. There have been rumors floating around for years that they are going to remake the movie. While that may not be a bad idea it will be hard to top the original.

I freely admit I am not a fan of most Adam Sandler movies, he has a few good ones and a few stinkers. His new one "Just Go With It" looks to be the latter. However there is one thing that may get me to fork over my hard earned money to watch it. There is an absolute stunning beauty in the preview that I want to see so much more of. The Super Bowl Is Set!

Super Bowl 45 is set to go with the Pittsburgh Steelers taking on the Green Bay Packers. This is a pretty cool match up of teams with fans all around the world, the ratings should be huge. I really am not sure who is gonna walk away with this one, if they were playing this week I would say Packers hands down, but that extra week off may be enough to disrupt the rhythm that they are playing with.

Speaking of monumental sporting events on Sunday afternoon all the Live 105 crew will be hitting the field at the Garrison Grounds for the Not So Super Bowl. It should be a great time, and the most physical activity many of us has had in a long time. Come out and have some fun as we play touch football, it all gets underway at 2PM. I hope to see you there.

I have a couple of DVD picks for you this week. First up the action/comedy "Red". This movie is over the top fun, with great performances from the all star cast. Make sure you have snacks, this is a total popcorn flick! My other pick for this week came out last week. "Paper Man" is a very cool little character driven film. Jeff Daniels and Emma Stone are great portraying characters that are down to earth, complete with psychological quirks. I put it as a must see.

We need to give thanks to myspace for a few things. In its day it was a great way to network with people, a fantastic way to discover some new music, and it allowed you to keep in touch with your favorite pornstar! How Has Your 2011 Been So Far?

Here we are almost a month into the new year, how has it been so far for you? I haven't slipped on any of the goals I have set forth for this year, but haven't really made any real progress on them as well. To be honest, I am not sure which is worse. Time to really get the wheels turning on some of the things I want to accomplish in 2011. If you have some goals you want to reach this year, and you haven't really started, don't beat yourself up about it, just refocus.

The Kids In The Hall was one of the best sketch comedy shows of all time! Seeing as it is a crappy day out there I figured a couple of skits from the boys would brighten the day up.

My DVD picks this week is a little older, but still worth checking out. If horror is your thing check out "Hatchet". This movie is a brilliant throwback to the horror films of the 1980's, young victims, a monstrous killer, it has it all! If you are more in the mood to laugh perhaps "Dodgeball" would fit the bill, this movie makes me laugh every time I see it. If a good drama is what you want check out "Finding Neverland", a brilliant performance by Johnny Depp makes this movie extremely touching.

Finally it seems like we have a new Scream Queen! I was worried Hollywood had forgotten the great the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh and Adrienne Barbeau. Well there seems to be a young actress that wants to joins these legendary ranks. With film credits that all ready include "Zombieland", "All The Boys Love Mandy Lane", and "The Stepfather". She has two more thrillers hitting theaters this year "The Ward" and "Drive Angry". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

NFL Playoffs Are In Full Swing

We are on the eve of the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.Some interesting match ups this weekend, Steelers/Ravens, Pats/Jets, Packers/Falcons and Seahawks/Bears. Should be a great weekend for some down and dirty football as all these match ups have already happened at least once in the regular season, so things should get real interesting.

As I write this I am very nervous, I am returning to the stage tonight for some stand up comedy. I haven't been on stage in a long time, but there is no time like the present. Hopefully I can remember all my jokes.

You may have not caught there album when it came out in 2007, but the self titled debut CD from Another Animal is amazing. Check out a couple of tracks and then go get it on iTunes.

I have two DVD picks this week, one that I am not sure if the experience will translate as well at home and an older movie I missed and just happened to catch this past week. First up, "Piranha". When I saw this in the theater it was in 3D and an absolute blast, total B-Movie fun. Losing the 3D and the theater experience may take away from the fun, I found this happened with "Snakes On A Plane". My other recommendation is "Crazy Heart", I was hesitant to watch this movie as I am not a big country music fan, now I am glad I did. The movie is fantastic with solid performances from the entire cast, it is a must see.

She started as a model, and as so many do turned to acting. Her credits include the films "Lord Of War", "Lost Boys: The Thirst", and the new "Death Race 2". She has also been rumored to be a strong candidate to play Wonder Woman. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

First Post Of 2011

Welcome to 2011, if they Mayan's are right we are quickly running out of time. Now I don't really think everything is going to come to an end in just over a year, but why not make the most out of everyday just in case. Also, go ape shit and buy as much stuff as you can on no interest no payments till 2013. Sure your credit will suck if the world doesn't blow up, but if it does you go out living like a king!

I don't want to say I have made a New Year's resolution, but I did set a goal for this year. My goal for 2011 is to create balance in my life. A task I suspect is easier said then done, but I shall attempt.

I have two DVD picks this week, as two of my top ten movies from last year were released to home video. First up "Machete", this movie is just fun! An over the top, ultra violent, bad ass good time. My other pick is "The Last Exorcism", I thought this was the best horror movie released last year. The performances really take the movie to another level.

I am a sucker for bad local TV commercials, unfortunately we don't get to many around here. Thankfully we have the internet, I give you the Credit MacDaddy:

Alice In Wonderland - Burton and Depp, just came up a bit short

The Expendables - One of the best action movies in recent years

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps - Oliver Stone makes a statement yet again

Toy Story 3 - Better then the second, not as good as the first

Hands down the funniest movie of the year, John Cusack is money

One of the best comic book adaptations ever!

I can't remeber the last time I had this much fun in the theater

The Coen Brothers just don't make bad movies

Christopher Nolan does it again, such a mind trip

Ben Affleck is one hell of a director, great movie

This is a brillant movie, Christian Bale is phenominal, and you leave the theater full of hope

You could probably juggle the top four in any order and not be wrong. That was how I saw this year at the movies.

A nice follow up, hoping for a Dead Rising 3 to further the story

#7 - ModNation Racers (PS3)
Hands down the most fun you can have playing a racing game

#6 - Alan Wake (XBOX 360)
This game had one of the best stories of the year, sweet visuals as well

#5 - Fallout: New Vegas (PS3, XBOX 360, PC)
Another winner from Bethesda, some glitches upon initial release kept it from a high spot

#4 - Halo: Reach (XBOX 360)
The Halo franchise continues to churn out great game after great game

#3 - Mass Effect 2 (PS3, XBOX 360, PC)
These games have such a sprawling story that captivates the player

#2 - Assassins Creed: Brotherhood (PS3, XBOX 360, PC)
A series that has the coolest ongoing story right now, it leaves you itching for the next chapter

#1 - Red Dead Redemption (PS3, XBOX 360)
Great story, outstanding voice acting, smooth game play, then throw in the Undead Nightmare expansion and you have your Game Of The Year!

Another solid release from one of the biggest bands out there

This was one of the biggest surprises of the year, stellar disc, a must have

The Boston boys return with a great CD, nice to have them back

5 - Stone Sour - Audio Secrecy

Corey Taylor contiunes to be one of the best front men in rock, he shows the range on this one

4 - Rob Zombie - Hellbilly Deluxe 2

Classic Rob Zombie, a great mix of horror and rock from the Superbeast

3 - HIM - Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice

How these guys are not bigger I have no idea, one of the best bands on the planet

2 - Atom Smash - Love Is The Missile

These guys are a band to watch, great debut album

1 - Murderdolls - Women And Children Last

I cannot stop listening to this CD, it seems each week I have a new favorite track, amazing

My DVD pick this week is a movie that will defiantly be on my list of the top films of 2010. Somehow it became cool to hate Ben Affleck, not so anymore. "The Town" is a superb film, everything is top notch. The story, the acting, the directing, everything. If you have not seen this yet, go rent it now! Hell buy it, the movie is simply amazing!

St. Louis over Arizona - The Cardnials are a joke, hard to believe two years ago they were in the Super Bowl

Tampa Bay over Atlanta - The Bucs need to prove they are for real

Indianapolis over Dallas - Peyton Manning has to take this team on his shoulders and right the ship.

We Are Less Then A Month Away

Christmas is less then a month away, how are your preparations going so far? I must say this year I am not doing to badly. I would say I am over halfway done my shopping, being single and having some friends drop off the face of the earth helps shorten the list! Hopefully you are doing well and can motivate yourself to avoid the last minuet rush.

I had a marginal improvement on my picks last week going 2-2. Here are my thoughts on the games this weekend.

Atlanta over Green Bay - This should be a great match up and possible preview of the NFC Championship game, I will give a slight edge to the home team.

Philadelphia over Chicago - Another tight match up, but I think the Eagles have too may weapons on both sides of the ball

Miami over Oakland - I just have a hard time thinking the Raiders are for real, and Miami should handle them

Kansas City over Seattle - The Seahawks are having a roller coaster season, and the Chiefs are having a fine season

There ya have it my picks, for Week 12.

He seems to be a director you either love or hate, I really enjoy the films of Zack Snyder. I mean how can you not like "300", "The Watchmen", and "Dawn Of The Dead". Well his next film looks freaking amazing! Check out the trailer for "Sucker Punch"

If you want a kick ass action movie this weekend you must rent "The Expendables". The only way to describe this movie is fun. Sure it is mindless, violent, and gory, but those are all good things! Hell make a weekend out of it grab some other Stallone movies, lots of popcorn, and enjoy the explosions!

Sometimes staying up to the wee hours of the morning can pay off. One night I was up late watching GSN, and I came across this show "Playmania" with an absolutely stunning host. Since then she has appeared on "Dancing With The Stars" and "The Apprentice". She was Miss America in 2003, and Miss USA in 2004, now she is Scotty's Hotty:

What To Do When You Are Down

Perhaps it is the change in season, maybe how gray it has been lately, or that I have put my golf clubs in storage, but I have been increasingly down recently. Going through a period of time when things that you normally enjoy, bring you no joy can be very difficult. I know I have had some days where I just wanted to sit in PJ's and play games all day. I have battled depression for most of my adult life, and it is so easy to give into the temptation to sit a wallow, and sometimes it is good to process what you are feeling, so you can try to understand why you are feeling a certain way. However, it is just as important to try to fight through those thoughts that are bringing you down and try to find some joy in something. It can be a simple as going to a movie, or playing with the dog for fifteen minuets. We are programmed as humans to follow the easiest path we can, it is important for us to step of that path and challenge ourselves a little everyday.

I have just been brutal1-3 the last two weeks with my NFL picks, time to turn it around:

Green Bay over Minnesota - This will probably be the last meaningful game Bret Favre plays in, it be good for both him and the Vikings if he retired after the game.

Dallas over Detroit - The Lions are still banged up and the Cowboys have a new fire lit under them.

San Francisco over Tampa Bay - I think the Bucs still have some growing to do, this will be a tough road game for the young team.

Tennessee over Washington - The Redskins seem to be in a bit of disarray and the Titans are more stable on both sides of the ball.

There we go, I can just smell a better week.

I picked up the new Murderdolls CD "Women And Children Last", and I must say it is easily one of the best CD's of 2010. Check out a couple of the tracks from the album:

My DVD pick this week is the new version of "A Christmas Carol". I read the Charles Dickens classic every year, as I think it could be the closest thing to a perfect story ever written. This animated version starring Jim Carrey does a fantastic job pulling the story from page to screen, and Jim Carrey is perfect as Scrooge. It may seem like a bit early to watch a Christmas movie, but this is well worth it!

For awhile it looked like she was going to become the new it girl in Hollywood. Coming off the huge success of "Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl" the world was her oyster so to speak. She seems to be happier making smaller independent films as opposed to the massive blockbusters. Regardless of the projects she chooses she is a very talented actress and incredibly beautiful. Bond Lives!

This is great news! If you haven't been following this story the company that owns the rights to the James Bond movies, MGM, has been going through Bankruptcy proceedings leaving the most successful movie franchises future in doubt. It has been announced that they have reached a settlement that will see a new Bond movie roughly once every two years starting in 2012. Being the movie geek I am this makes me very very happy. As an added Bond treat here is the theme song to the last super spy outing "Quantum Of Solace":

On to my picks for this weekends NFL action:

San Diego over Houston - I am off the Texans band wagon, they have all the pieces but just can't seem to put it together

Kansas City over Oakland - In a battle of two surprise teams give me the Chiefs

Arizona over Minnesota - This my big upset of the week, there seems to be no one leading the ship for the Vikings and I could see them losing

My DVD pick this week is a movie that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a big special edition Blu Ray box set, however it is worth going back to watch on any format Blu Ray, DVD, Laserdisc or VHS. If you have kids and you haven't sat down and watched "The Goonies" with them, you must! The thought of the movie just makes me smile.

Hands down my favorite holiday is Halloween, call me weird, lord knows my family does, but I love bats, skulls, blood almost anything dark and sick. Halloween is the only time of year it is really kosher to openly express my love for such things without ending up on some sort of police watch list. Boston Here I Come!

I am so excited, tomorrow morning I fly out for a crazy weekend in Beantown. I land around 9 Saturday morning and I am off to spend a day at the Rock and Shock a sweet horror movie convention were I could meet the likes of Danny Trejo, George Romero, Bill Mosley, Doug Bradley, and many many more! Then after that Rob Zombie live in concert, I have wanted to see Rob forever and I can't wait for this show. Then on Sunday it is off to Foxborough for some tailgating to watch my beloved New England Patriots take on the Baltimore Ravens. Should be a great game! Overall this is going to be an amazing weekend, I will take as many pics as I can so you can all virtually enjoy my trip!

Speaking of the NFL let's get to my picks for Week Six:

Green Bay over Miami - The Packers are just so tough to beat in Lambeau

Houston over Kansas City - The Texans have to show if they are for real or not, this game will go a long way to show us who this team really is

Dallas over Minnesota - The Vikings are a mess right now, and the Cowboys need the win

Washington over Indianapolis - I really think the Redskins defence is enough to stop Indy and give Washington the win.

I was 2-2 last week let's hope that this week is a little better.

I am loving the new Methods of Mayhem CD right now. Tommy Lee cranked it up a notch on "A Public Disservice Announcement" and this is easily one of the best CD's of the year. Check out the first single "Time Bomb":

Since I am going to be hanging at a horror convention this weekend I figured my DVD pick should be a horror movie, hell let's throw a couple of choices out there. John Carpenter's "In The Mouth of Madness" is a bizarre tale the bends the rules of fiction and reality. My other pick is Rob Zombie's "House Of a 1000 Corpses". Rarely does a new horror movie come along that gives us such enduring characters like Captain Spaulding and Dr. Satan!

The NFL season is rolling right along with no teams really pulling ahead of the pack. In what was a shocking move the Patriots traded Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings, it should be interesting to see what Brett Fave can do with Moss, or is it to late for these two to really make magic. I have missed a few weeks of picks so I am just going to start clean, so here are my picks for Week 5:

Dallas over Tennessee - The Cowboys seemed to have gotten things back on track, so they should roll

New Orleans over Arizona - This is a gimme, and I want to guarantee at least one win this week

Baltimore over Denver - The Ravens look real good, and the Broncos are a bit of a mess, they just don't seem to know what to do with their players (i.e. Tebow)

Atlanta over Cleveland - The Browns are taking baby steps in the right direction but they can't handle the dirty birds

My DVD pick this week is a re-release of am movie that was initially cut in tow when it hit home video. "Grindhouse" has finally been released as it was meant to be; as one long double feature, with the fake trailers intact!! If for some reason you didn't see it in the theater or watched Planet Terror and Death Proof separately, watch them again as they were meant to be seen!

Occasionally I become totally smitten with a lady, and such is the case with this beauty. As part of The Beautiful People she is one of the biggest reasons to not miss TNA Impact every Thursday night on Spike and she will also be a big part of this weekend PPV Bound For Glory. Been A Busy Week In Mars Land!

It has been one hectic week in the world of Scotty Mars. I have not slowed down at all, in the last few days I have had three auditions, one TV ad, a web show, and a national radio spot. Now the waiting games begin. If you have never gone to an audition, it can me incredibly stressful. You go in a room, sell yourself, do you best, and then wait for the phone to ring. So nerve racking!

As I search the world over for great rock bands I have a found a band from Finland that mixes the showmanship of Kiss, the riffs of Twisted Sister, and the vocals of, well I am not sure who. Regardless they are one hell of a band, and their videos are stellar. Enjoy Lordi:

With a new horror movie hitting theatres soon called "The Last Exorcist" I figured my DVD pick this week would be the original, "The Exorcist". Now the new movie has nothing to do with the 1973 classic. However, despite being almost forty years old "The Exorcist" is one of the greatest horror movies ever made. So if you have never seen the film, or it has been a while since you have, go out and rent it this weekend!

I was beyond excited to see "Piranha 3D". I mean what more could you want from a film then flesh eating fish in 3D. Well, you could want beautiful women, and the cast of "Piranha 3D" is full of them. Including this stunner. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Life Can Be Crazy At Times

Its funny sometimes how life can drop you down one second, and then give you some crazy opportunities the next. Needless to say I have been riding a crazy personal roller coaster this summer. At times I have been on some amazing highs, and I have been down in the low points as well. Complete with the gut turning drops along the way. However if I have learned anything it is that you never know what the next turn brings. So if things are getting you down, hang in there, the next day may change everything!

NFL preseason has arrived and I could not be more happy. Now as we all know I am a big Pats fan, and love seeing what the rookies can do, and watch guys play for their jobs. Sure the football ca be a bit sloppy at times, but in some ways when you get the third and fourth string guys on the field it is the purest form of the game.

It has been a while since we have had a really great horror movie. Just straight horror, not mixed with comedy, or sci-fi. It looks like the wait is over. Check out the preview for a new movie called "The Last Exorcist":

My DVD pick this week is an older flick that you may want to try to hunt down. "V For Vendetta" is a fantastic adaptation of Alan Moore's graphic novel. When it was released in 2006 many tried to draw comparisons to the political climate in the US at the time. Sure there were some similar angles you could look at, but really it shows the timelessness of the story and how bad government is something we can't seem to avoid.

I am watching TNA one night, and suddenly out of nowhere comes one of the most beautiful women I have ever laid eyes on. Thankfully she has stuck around and made Impact even more enjoyable to watch. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

NFL Is Almost Here!!

I love baseball, am very fond of hockey, but nothing gets me as jazzed up as the NFL season. Seventeen weeks of grueling competition where every game matters, a loss in Week 1 or 2 could bit you in the ass at the end of the year. This should be a phenomenal season, and with a possible lock out next year the last NFL season for a long long time. I will not make any predictions as to who will win the Super Bowl, but I will say there are a few teams that may surprise people this year. The Houston Texans are primed to make a leap forward, granted they have been for the last couple of years, if it doesn't work this year time to blow out most of the squad and start over. With a new coach and a new QB the Redskins may finally make some positive strides, it all depends on how quickly Shannahan and McNabb can take control of the team. Also, don't be shocked if the Detroit Lions give teams more headaches then they have in the past, they are young and slowly getting better. They are not a playoff team yet, but will post a couple of upsets this year.

I was so happy to see that one of my favorite bands was getting back together. Some have them as a one hit wonder, however they forget the success of "Neighbor" and their version of "Cat's In The Cradle". Soon enough Ugly Kid Joe will be back and the road and they are working on a new CD as well. That is music to my ears. Here are a couple of tunes from the boys:

My DVD pick this week is easily one of the best movies of 2010. "Kick Ass" is the perfect blend of action and comedy. Based on one of the best graphic novels of all time the story looses nothing in translation. It is a must see, and I have heard rumblings that we will see a sequel!

Sometimes a girl just catches your eye, and that is the break that launched this lady onto the national scene. She was spotted in the crowd during a 2005 Florida State – Miami football game.On seeing the shot, announcer Brent Musburger commented that "1,500 red-blooded Americans just decided to apply to Florida State." She has since gone on to work for the New York Jets and is currently hosting "The Daily Line" on VS. network. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

It's Natal Day Weekend

Natal day weekend is upon us and there are a boat load of activities taking place all around the city. Last night things got off to a great start with the comedy night down at the Alexander Keith's festival tent. It was a great night of laughs with some amazing local comedians. My DVD pick this week is an animated film from DC Comics. "Batman: Under The Red Hood" is one of the best versions of the Dark Knight out there. It tells a dark and disturbing tale of one of the most important Batman stories ever told. If you are a fan of Batman you must watch this!

I have always had a thing for female athletes. Every now and then one comes along that is not only beautiful but is absolutely dominate at their sport. Such is the case with this stunning lady. She has won Olympic gold and silver medals, been an All-American, and had her number retired by her University. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

I Wish I Was In San Diego

Sometime before I die I will attend the Sand Diego Comic-Con. It is ground zero for all geeks and nerds, only there could you discuss the ins and outs of Batman's costume changes over the years and not be mocked. There you could gush over how cool sci fi movies are with the fear of being punched. There have all ready been some sweet announcements from San Diego here re a few that have really peaked my interest:

- Disney is remaking "The Haunted Mansion" movie, but this time going for real scares, and have hired Guillermo del Toro to direct

- Robert Rodriguez has said that there will be a sequel to "Predators"

- Bobba Fett makes an appearance in the upcoming "Star Wars: Force Unleashed 2" video game

- Tonnes of info on Halo: Reach, it looks so sweet!

- It's looking like Kate Beckinsale will be back for the next Underworld movie!

I really could sit here for hours talking about the happenings at this years Comic-Con, it is just so damn cool!

The first time I heard this song, I just shouted out hit. I has been awhile since I have heard something this catchy. The band is called Atom Smash and their debut CD hits stores on August 31st. Check out "Do Her Wrong":

I have two DVD picks this week and both fall into the action comedy genre. First up is "The Losers". I loved this movie! It was just plain fun, it never takes itself too seriously and is packed full of action. My second recommendation is "Cop Out", now while this movie is flawed at times, it is also very funny and real homage to buddy cop movies of the 80's. Check these flicks out and it will liven up your weekend.

One of my most anticipated films of 2011 is "Green Lantern". I am such a huge fan of the character and am hoping the movie is just kick ass. When it comes to casting Carol Farris they did a fine job. She is perhaps best known for her work on "Gossip Girl". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

I have started doing Box Fit classes at Palooka's Gym, and let me tell you they are intense. If you are looking to get in shape I would really recommend you try these classes out. They push you just hard enough to get you to the next level. It is simply an amazing class, I can't say enough good things about Tyson, Josh, Bunny and all the staff down at Palooka's!

It's hard to believe it has been over a year since these guys ripped the Forum apart. They have a new album hitting stores on August 31st. Here is the first single from the new Disturbed album "Asylum", its "Another Way To Die":

Vacation Plans Keep Falling Apart!!!

So I had some lofty vacation plans this summer and one by one they are falling apart. First up I was going to be in Toronto this weekend for the U2 concert, after Bono's surgery that show has been postponed until god knows when. I had then decided that it would be amazing to spend the fourth of July in Boston, the birthplace of the American Independence movement. Well thanks to Air Miles bizzaro booking policies I was unable to get a plane ticket. Therefore I have Vacation in front of me and no plans what so ever. Unfortunately for me I never really enjoy vacations just lounging around the house. So I will attempt to take some day trips around this fine province and see what I can stir up. I will let you know if I come across anything spectacular.

As I troll the Internet searching for info and porn, and not in that order I come across some truly bizarre videos. I thought why keep them to myself, here are a few odd vids from the Internet.

My DVD pick this week has so far been my favorite comedy of the year. "Hot Tub Time Machine" is simply amazing. I actually saw this twice in the theatres and just picked it up for my home collection. If you have a love of the 80's and just enjoy a good time watching a movie, you must rent this! Also one of my movie rules is the John Cusack doesn't make bad movies, and her proves me right again with this one.

I knew when I saw this lady that she would go on to bigger and better things. She was the only reason to watch "She's Out Of My League" and she has now landed the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming "X-Men: First Class". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Summer Movie Season Has Been A Dissapointment

I can not remember a summer where there have been so many mediocre movies released. Everything that has come out so far has been so disposable, gone from my mind five minuets after I left the theater. Sure "Iron Man 2" had its moments, "The A-Team" was fun, and "Jonah Hex" was a mess. So far the best films of the summer have been "Prince Of Persia" and "Grown Ups". Now there is still hope for film fans this summer as "Predators" will open soon, there is a horror move called "The Last Exorcism" that looks phenomenal, and "Inception" could be brilliant. So lets keep our finger crossed that things get better, or we may have to spend some of the summer outside, and that is just scary.

I was cruising along the other day, and I heard this song. As soon as it was over I wanted to hear it again. Give a listen to Papercut Massacre "Lose My Life":

My DVD pick this week is an older flick, bu definitely worth watching. "Escape From New York" is set in 1997, and with World War III winding down Manhattan Island has been turned into a giant prison. When the President crashes into the heart of New York, renegade Snake Plissken is sent in to save him. Kurt Russell is amazing as Snake, a character that has inspired many movie and video game action heroes. He is hands down on of the coolest characters ever put on film. They are planning on remaking this movie, but check out the original now.

This actress has an impressive body of work. She has appeared on "Dawson's Creek", "That 70's Show", "Club Dread" and "The Basketball Diaries". However, I have my fondest memories of her in "Joe Dirt". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

E3 Equals Geektastic Nerdgasim!!!

E3 or the Electronic Entertainment Expo is over and I have had to change my undies so many times from excitement I had to but some new pairs. Microsoft wowed the show with their new slim lined 360 and their motion sensor Kinect. I can't wait to give this new technology a try. XBOX 360 also showed off a bunch of exclusive games like Halo: Reach, Fable 3, and Gears of War 3. A fine showing for Microsoft and their console. Sony had a nice showing as well with their new motion controller PS Move. They also showed renewed push for their portable PSP, which is great news if you have one, as many were thinking it was a dying platform. Nintendo also had some sweet exclusive games like a new Zelda title, a new Kirby game, and a re-imagined Goldeneye. The word is their new 3D DS is also a smoking piece of hardware.

Normally I would put a rock band here that I am currently listening to. However I can't stop watching this, it could be the funniest song ever written. Give this a listen:

My DVD pick this week is a new movie from Pauly Shore, yes Pauly Shore. It is called "Adopted", a very simple premise. Pauly goes to Africa to adopt a child, like Madonna or Angelina Jolie. It is then that the hilarity ensues. You gotta check this one out! Don't believe me, here is the preview:

Sometime a woman comes along with just the perfect combination of cute and sexy! This girl is such a combo. She has been seen in such films as "Jumper" and "The Last Kiss", which is an excellent little film if you haven't seen it. She broke onto the scene as part of "The O.C.". Hockey Withdrawl

The Stanley Cup playoffs have finally come to an end. Congratulations to the Blackhawks, and to Marian Hossa who mush feel like he has a giant monkey off his back. The problem now becomes what to watch with no hockey on TV. I have just get so used to having a game on every night I don't even know what is on in prime time anymore. Apparently Lost and 24 are over. Who knew? Thankfully football season is not that far off, if my sanity can keep till then.

William Regal is one hell of a wrestler. A guy who has never really gotten a fair push in the WWE. During one of his stints with the company they decided to take away his uppity British gimmick and make him a blue collar labourer. A man's man if you will. It result in this horrific theme song:

My DVD pick this week is the latest Martin Scorsese film "Shutter Island". Leonardo DiCaprio is amazing in this psychological thriller that really grips at your gut. Everything about the movie from the performances, the sets, and the music have a well crafted ominous tone that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This movie should not be missed!

The Von Erich's are a legendary family in the world of wrestling. Having so many members of the family enter the squared circle I have lost count. We are now on to the third generation of wrestling Von Erich's and the first female. The daughter of the "Texas Tornado" Kerry Von Erich is currently part of The Beautiful People in TNA. When A Perfect Game Is Not So Perfect

By now we have all heard about Armando Galarraga's near-perfect game Wednesday night, it came down to the last out and was spoiled by an admitted bad call by first base official Jim Joyce. It would have been the 21st perfect game in MLB history and the third this year. Jim Joyce has apologized and knows he stole history from Galarraga. However Bud Seilg, commissioner of Major League Baseball will not overturn the call. This i just a microcosm of what is wrong with baseball. It refuses to get with the times, fighting change and progress at every turn. After what happened on Wednesday MLB is considering expanding the use of replay. A practice that every other sport has embraced with open arms; even tennis uses replay. This high and mighty attitude is what prevents baseball from even considering a salary cap, something that would make the league infinitely more entertaining to watch. Not to mention the countless other suggestions that have been put out there to help improve the game. They are never even considered. That philosophy is what is turning a perfect game into a not so perfect game.

Time for another terrible wrestling theme song. You may remember a tag team from WCW that consisted of Buff Bagwell and Scotty Riggs. They went by the name American Males. As bad as all that sounds, their theme song was even worse:

Just horrible, and it get stuck in your head. American Males, American Males, ugh.

Two DVD picks for you this week, a nice throwback horror film, and a classic fantasy. Now it didn't do great numbers at the box office, but the recent "Wolfman" remake was superbly done. It is classic Gothic horror, nice suspense and fantastic creature effects. On the other end of the scale Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland" has been the most successful movie so far this year. While I was lukewarm on it after initially viewing it I decided to give it another watch and found myself absolutely taken with it. Maybe it was my expectations or perhaps the average 3D but my first trip down the rabbit hole was not nearly as engaging as my return visit.

When you resume includes movies like "Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones", "28 Weeks Later", and "Troy" it is safe to say you are having a very successful career. She also got rave reviews for her work on the TV show "Damages". Her latest role is that of Jackie Q in the new comedy "Get Him To The Greek". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

The Final's Start Tomorrow Night

After a long playoff run we are on the verge of the Stanley Cup Finals. This should be an interesting match up, I know on paper it would look like an easy victory for Chicago. However, the Flyers do have some forward depth and are riding a hot goaltender. I think we are in for at least a six game series, with close games throughout. I still think the Blackhawks will hoist their first Cup in fifty years, but it will be a closer battle then many are predicting.

When you think of rock n' roll hot spots you tend to think of LA, New York, or Seattle. The state of Utah would probably never come to mind. That being said it is the home state of a great band called "The Used". Check out a couple of their tunes:

I have been on a bit of a James Bond kick lately, so I have a couple of DVD picks this week. First up perhaps my favorite Bond movie "Goldeneye". Pierce Brosnan's first outing as 007, and a movie that breathed new life into the franchise. Next up "A View To A Kill", while not one of the best Bond films, it was the first one I ever saw, and Roger Moore's last mission. Plus with Christopher Walken as the villain it can't be all bad.

"Prince Of Persia" opens this weekend and it will unleash on the world a beauty that I first spotted in "Quantum Of Solace" as Strawberry Fields, yes that was the characters name. She can also be seen in "Clash Of The Titans" and "Rock n' Rolla". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

What Is MLB Thinking?

OK, so the Jays and Phillies are set to hook up for three games in late June. They were scheduled to take place in Toronto, however due to the G20 summit being in the city at the same time Major League Baseball decided to move the games. So where do they move these Jays home games to? Philadelphia. So not only do the Jays lose home field for these three games, the Phillies have now picked up an extra three home games. Something that i not sitting well with their opponents in the NL East. MLB says they explored every option before making the decision. I somehow doubt that. I can think of three possibilities that would have been better and kept the games in Canada. First off the Big O is still standing, how cool would it be to have a three game set back in Montreal. A second option may have been in Vancouver, I am sure they have a ball field that would have done the job, and finally why not take the games to the nations capital. The could have played in the Ottawa Baseball Stadium, sure it only holds 10,000 people but right now the Jays have the lowest average attendance in baseball. Somehow MLB has managed to not only screw the Jays with this decision, they have also managed to piss off the entire NL East and most Canadian baseball fans. Way to go Bud Selig!

I love digging through my CD collection and finding a disc that I have not listened to in a long time. This week I dug out a gem from 1992. Jackly's self titled debut album is full of killer tracks. Here are a couple:

I have two DVD picks for you this week depending on the mood you are in. If you are looking for some action check out "Daybreakers". This vampire flick tells the story of a future where vampires have taken over the Earth, and they are running out of humans. It is atmospheric, moody, and well put together. My other pick "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus", the final film from Heath Ledger. It is rare that a fantasy movie can suck you into its world and dazzle you with all its wonders. Parnassus does just that, you feel for each character as they go on this journey. It is brilliant film making.

Since Smackdown will be in town tomorrow night I figured I would pay homage to the WWE by selecting one of their divas to be Scotty's Hotty this week. She has recently been drafted to the Smackdown brand, and rumour has it she dated Jeremy Piven after he was guest host of RAW. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

My DVD pick this week is one of my all time favorite action movies. "The Last Boy Scout" came out during the hay day of buddy cop film. Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans are the unlikely combo paired up in this action/comedy. It is so worth checking out. Also it is interesting to note, what is supposed to be a parody of the opening for televised football games at the begging is pretty much what they have become.

Time for a new feature here on the blog. It is crappy wrestling theme music, some of the worst songs that have ever ushered people to the squared circle. Despite this horrible them Sting was able to become the icon he is today. Sit back and enjoy this crappy theme:

NHL Playoffs: Round 2

OK, so my first round selections did not go too well. I only correctly picked three out of the eight match ups. Here is to hoping I get my shit together for the second round. On to the picks:

Pittsburgh over Montreal: Can the Habs pull two major upsets, nah, I don't think. Pens in six.

Philadelphia over Boston: Tough series to call, I will go with the Flyers seven

San Jose over Detroit: I just have a feeling about the Sharks this year, San Jose in six.

Well I Am Off To A Terriable Start

So far I am 0 for one on my first round NHL picks. The Flyers knocked off the Devils last night. I can't believe that New Jersey laid the egg they did in this post season. I am also in danger of losing Buffalo tonight. Not a good start to my NHL predictions. This is one of my favorite weekends of the year, the NFL Draft. I try to watch every pick made and love to scout these young guys and see who may be an impact player this coming year.

Every now and then I get in a very reflective mood. I like to sit and think about my life, the past, the future, what may or may not have been. When I get in moods like this I like to listen to certain songs. One of my go to tunes when I am in this state of mind is this gem from Billy Joel:

Such a great song.

My DVD pick this week is perfect if you are looking for a silly comedy. The latest from the group that brought you "Super Troopers" is "The Slammin' Salmon". Sure this is really light on plot, but is it silly and really funny. Michael Clark Duncan steals the show as a former boxer turned restaurant owner.

We all know how much I love wrestling. So why not feature one of wrestling's most stunning beauties. She started in the WWE, has since gone on to TNA where she now serves as their backstage interviewer. Scotty's Hotty this week is:

She is just a firecracker of hotness, hell she makes me explode.

NHL Playoffs Have Arrived!

The NHL's second season has arrived. It should be an interesting first round, here are my picks for the first round:

In the East:

Montreal vs. Washington: The Caps have so much fire power they should take this in six.

Boston vs. Buffalo: Ryan Miller is the key, Sabers in five games.

Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa: The Penguins should handle the Sens in six games.

Philadelphia vs. New Jersey: The Devils should be able to beat the Flyers in six.

In the West:

Phoenix vs. Detroit: I like the Coyotes to win this in seven.

Colorado vs. San Jose: The Sharks are due, and they should win in five.

Chicago vs. Nashville: The Blackhawks will take this one in six.

Los Angles vs. Vancouver: Give me the Kings in seven in this one.

Lets see how many of these I get wrong.

I have always been a fan on Godsmack, it was a blast when I got to meet them last summer at Crue Fest 2. They are getting ready to release a new CD on May 4th called "The Oracle". The first single is called "Cryin' Like A Bitch", check it out:

Not bad, I am thinking it will grow on me.

My DVD pick for the week is a very cool little film called "Defendor". It starts Woody Harrelson in one of his best performances. I don't want to say too much for fear of giving away any of the joy you will have watching this movie. It will make you laugh, cry, and think all at once. So check it out.

She has been in so many European films it is not even funny, I first saw her in "The Matrix Reloaded". She can be seen in the upcoming movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice". However of all her movies my personal favorite is "Shoot 'Em Up". Scotty's Hotty this week is:

Golfing Season Has Arrived!

Some of the courses around the province have been open for awhile now, but I like to wait a bit for the ground to try out a bit. Nothing like hitting a fantastic drive, only to have it plug in the soggy fairway. With all the great weather we have had I decided to go out and see how the ground was playing. There were still a few wet spots, but overall the course was ready to go. I officially announce that golfing season is here. I have set my personal goal for the year to consistently break 90. Last year I was between a 92 and 95 all season, so it is right there within my grasp. Hope to see you out there on the links.

A while ago I posted the latest song from HIM. A European band that I am a huge fan of, well, I have received a few emails asking for more info on the band. If you are looking for a CD to start a HIM collection with "And Love Said No" is a great first addition. It is a greatest hits collection covering the early years of the band. I am going to go old school for my DVD pick this week. I was sitting around the other day kinda bored, and decided to toss "Blade" into the DVD player. I forgot how solid that movie is from start to finish. As a matter of fact I ended up watching the entire Blade Trilogy over the last few days. So if you are in the mood for some hot vampire action, and who isn't? Then I would say check out any of the Blade movies this weekend.

So I am flipping the channels a few weeks back, and I stumble upon an episode of Law & Order: SVU that I hadn't seen before. Well, I am so glad that I stopped to watch! Although this beauty died in the episode, thankfully she lives on. Actually I had seen her before in "Wedding Crashers" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning". She was also in the new "Star Trek" movie, but somehow her scenes got cut out. Scotty's Hotty this week is:
